Fairway to Furlong is delighted to announce its return to Goodwood for 2014 to celebrate the start of a great days racing on the Friday of Glorious Goodwood.
On Friday 1st August you will be treated to 9 holes of golf on the Downs Course following by hospitality in the Gordon Enclosure at the races. The Friday of Glorious Goodwood is a very exciting race day with 4 Group One races including the Betfred Mile, the most valuable handicap at Goodwood. The lunch will include a champagne reception, a three course lunch with afternoon tea, complimentary wine, beer and spirits.
The stunning Goodwood estate is home to two tremendous golf courses, the Downs Course and Park Course. Their 2006 inauguration ensured that the Goodwood Hotel became a first class venue for golfers of all abilities in the South. The lovely Park Course is situated on the fringes of the hotel but it is the Downs Course, a majestic championship track that boasts the luxury Kennels clubhouse, which really capture the imagination and demands some high class golf.
The Downs Course has already featured in the list of the UK and Ireland’s top 100 golf courses. It is a spectacular new parkland layout that represents a genuine championship test. The newly renovated course is maintained in immaculate condition, and its 6,816 yard stretch ensures it is regarded by many as the finest downland course in the United Kingdom.
This quintessentially English five day festival attracts more than 100,000 race goers and is a mainstay of the summer social calendar. In a world of overused hyperbole and cliché, Glorious Goodwood really is a British institution and an event of the highest quality to be savoured year after year. Panama and linen, hats and fascinators, all five days see high fashion, glamour and beauty in abundance. The sun always seems to be shining for Glorious Goodwood and people dress to impress.
It is of course primarily about the racing, however, and Glorious Goodwood attracts an international cast of top quality racehorses. Each and every day features top class action from Group one races through to highly competitive handicaps.
